This 6 days Uganda gorilla Rwanda safari: takes you to Rwanda in Volcanoes National park which protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range, a home of the endangered mountain gorilla and a rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath and Uganda in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to more than half of the remaining total population of the mountain gorillas. In these two parks, you will be able to enjoy your Gorilla trekking in different trails as well as other mammal and bird species.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
You will arrive at Kigali Airport where our driver guide from Great Nest Image Safaris will receive you and brief you about these 6 days safari then later transfer you to Kigali which is Rwanda’s capital, where you will have lunch from. After, you will drive to Ruhengeri to the Volcanoes National Park which is among the widespread Virunga Mountains along with Bwindi Forest in Uganda and the Virunga in Congo which have a variety of peaks like the Bisoke, Karisimbi, Muhabura and Sabyinyo which is also a home to the rare Mountain Gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking-Volcanoes
After your morning breakfast, you will drive to the headquarters of the park where you will have a briefing from the ranger guides concerning gorilla trekking. Later you will start trekking the gentle giants through the Volcanoes Forest. Meeting the gorillas will be the most thrilling experience as you will be amazed at the Silverbacks. It will be a great time watching the gorillas play, communicate to each other and the mothers feed the young ones. After meeting the gorillas, strictly one hour is spent with them, so make sure you utilize your time with them for example take photos, enjoy them as they play and feed. Later you will return to the lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden monkey tracking – Dian Fossey’s grave
After breakfast, you decide to visit the attractive golden monkeys and take walk to Dian Fossey’s grave or just choose other activities like visiting local community projects and schools or hike Muhavura and Bisoke volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Travel to Uganda-Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will have your breakfast and later transfer to Kigali and depending on your time schedule you can choose to have a short city tour and later you will proceed with your journey to Uganda having lunch on the way. You will check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will have breakfast and then move to the rangers’ post and here you will receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during the trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates and once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The experience of coming face to face with these peaceful giants is very overwhelming. Later you will head back to your lodge, freshen up, have lunch and in the after you can decide to visit the Batwa community, they will tell you their forest stories, learn about their culture, learn their dances as you join them in dancing and much more. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Return to Kigali-Rwanda
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kigali where you will have lunch and after your guide will transfer you to the Airport for your flight back home.

PERMITS
In Uganda Gorilla trekking is done throughout the year and a Gorilla permit goes for $700 per person while in Rwanda it goes for $1500 per person per day.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SAFARI
- Gorilla trekking permits.
- Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
- Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
- Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
- Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day of the trekking.

Standard 4X4 Safari Vans/Land cruisers
Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari van and Land cruisers with open roof tops customized for game viewing and photography. Each Safari van/Land cruiser comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. Each client is entitled to a window seat and can take up to 8-10 people. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.
