Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park: is undoubtedly Uganda’s most famous park and traveler’s destination. The park’s sites include several beautiful crater lakes winding through the rolling hills and the panoramic display of the Kazinga channel. While here, you have an awesome view of the hippos, buffalos, elephants and several bird species lined up at the shores. With a continuation towards ishasha sector plains, another surprise of tree climbing lions resting on trees will blow one away. Besides the remarkable wildlife attraction, the park also boasts of attractive heritage/culture history. There are numerous opportunities for tourists to visit the local population who are entertaining in terms of local music and cultural dances.
What to do in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Nature walks
We basically organize short and longer nature walks guided by very knowledgeable and skilled guides inside the Maramagambo forest. While here, you will get an opportunity to visit the bat caves are habitats to large pythons which prey on the hundreds and hundreds of bats that live here. You will also encounter different bird species as you explore this forest.
The launch cruise
This is a two hours boat ride to Kazinga Channel, a natural water-channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. In fact, its water banks are crowded with a number of different wild animals. Some of these include; Crocodiles, Hippos in addition to buffalos, elephants and a great profusion of birds. This launch cruise also presents tourists a great chance to take some beautiful photographs as well as record videos.
Chimpanzee tracking
The Kyambura Wildlife Reserve is situated in the eastern side of the park which is generally a home to quite a number of different wildlife. Although olive baboons and Black and white colobus are present here, the primary tourist activity here is chimpanzee tracking. Here, tourists get a chance to come face to face with these forest apes which are also referred to as man’s closest living relative.
Look for the unique tree-climbing lions in Ishasha sector
While at the Isasha sector, you will get a chance to see some lions resting up in the branches of the huge fig trees. As a matter of fact, its only in this park in Uganda where you are able to spot the tree climbing lions. Apart from Uganda, you are also spot in them Tanzania’s Lake Manyara and South Africa’s Kruger national park. Interestingly, these lions climb trees for different reasons that you will get to discover during your safari in Uganda.
Lion tracking
Lion tracking is also one of the most interesting experimental tourism activities in Uganda. Lion tracking generally involves learning much more about the habits of the king of the wild in natural plains of Kasenyi. However, limited numbers of participants are allowed to a natural habitat. Besides, the activity lasts for 2-3 days and only twice a day; in the morning around 8am and late afternoon.
Wildlife viewing / Game drives
Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 550 different types of bird species, and more than 91 different mammal species. These can best be seen during our exciting game drives which are led and guided by our highly trained, knowledgeable and well experienced safari guides. Note that, we conduct the game drives in four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles. Some of the wild animals you will encounter include: the spotted hyena, Uganda Kobs, lions. Striped jackal, buffaloes, bushbucks, forest hogs as well as the huge elephants.
Bird watching
Our adventurous guided bird watching tours in the park are led by professional birding guides. These will lead you in the forest and detail you about the various species living within this area. The park has also got a bird list of more than 501 different bird species. This in fact makes it the best place for enthusiastic birders to enjoy such a tour.
