7 Days Uganda Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari
This 7 Days Uganda Chimpanzees & Wildlife Safari: takes you to Uganda’s parks with different activities to enjoy. Firstly, the safari will take you to Murchison Falls National Park Uganda’s largest protected area. Here, you will do chimp tracking in Budongo forest, game drives as well as a boat cruise. Secondly, you will visit the Sempaya hot springs in Semuliki National Park. You will conclude your safari with Kibale National Park which is famous with different primates.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park-Ziwa rhino sanctuary-Top of the falls
After breakfast, you will be picked by your assigned driver then start on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will do your on-foot rhino tracking. As a matter of fact, this is currently the only place in Uganda that hosts rhinos in their natural habitant. Afterwards, you will proceed with your journey having another stopover in Masindi for lunch.
Upon arrival in the park, you will go to the top of the falls that makes this park so famous. Interestingly, this is where the water of the Nile makes its way through a narrow gorge making a thunderous sound pouring downstream in a pool of 7 metres down. This place is also good for memorable pictures and taking in of the sounds and sights, including the rainbow that does not disappear, created by the mist of the falls. Basically, the top of the fall is spectacular, being so close to the falls and seeing the splendor from the top is such a wonderful experience. Later you will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game drive-Boat cruise
After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for an early morning game drive across the savannah, along Lake Albert Delta. However, what you will see, sense and feel around cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. Afterwards, you will head to the dock and have your packed lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise. The boat will take around 3 hours and while on water therefore, don’t forget to pack some snacks and drinks to enjoy. While here, you will be able to view different animals like the crocodiles, hippos, etc as well as different water bird species. The boat ride will take you to the base of the Murchison Falls and when here you will be able to see clearly the mighty waterfalls.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Budongo Forest
After an early morning breakfast, you will leave for chimpanzee tracking within Budongo forest. The forest is basically known for its special Mahogany tree species which are very tall. In addition, there are numerous primates including the forest galago, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus as well as blue monkeys. Furthermore, there are several bird species like the yellow-footed eye catcher and the white-thighed hornbill, etc. Later you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Semuliki National Park
After your breakfast, you will drive to Semuliki National Park situated along the western border of Uganda. Along the way, you will enjoy this spectacular drive with views of Lake Albert and the legendary Mountain Rwenzori ranges. The park has a great location within western Albertine Rift valley region. In addition, it occupies the eastern section of Ituri forest connecting Uganda with Congo River separated by river Semuliki. The park has also got approximately 400 species of bird mainly forest birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Game drive-Explore the Sempaya hot springs
You will have breakfast and later, drive to Toro Semliki wildlife reserve for a chance to catch up with early species that rush from their hideouts. Animals to spot include; the savannah elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, etc. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later head to the Sempaya hot springs.
These springs basically have a geyser that shoots up from the 8 meters hole, and the water is at a high temperature. They also have a temperature of more than 100 degrees Celsius with hot surrounding pools. Here, you can also have a chance to taste boiled eggs and bananas boiled from the springs. Along the trail where the hot springs are located, you will be in line to see a number of birds and some primates. Later, you will proceed to Mungilo waterfalls where you will have an opportunity of seeing a number of beautiful bird species. Later you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park-Nature walks
After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park while enjoying the beautiful views. This park is generally one of the great rain forests in Africa and has the largest community of chimpanzees. Upon arrival you check in your lodge for lunch and later take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary. This is a good site for birders and here watch out for the Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, herons, kingfishers, etc. Other primate species to view include; the bush pigs, baboons, bush bucks, not to mention but a few. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking-Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe
After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters. While here, you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while doing chimpanzee trekking. Later, you will start your search for the chimpanzees within the park. However, this activity can take you half a day depending on the movements of these primates. In fact, these are our closest relatives sharing 98% of their DNA with that of the human beings. There are also other primates in the area and some of these include; the golden monkeys, baboons. L’Hoest monkey, white and black Colobus, red Colobus, blue monkeys, etc. Other animals to watch include; forest elephants unique from the common type and giant forest hogs. Later on, return to Kampala/Entebbe with lunch along the way and this will end our safari.

Permits
In Uganda chimpanzee tracking is done throughout the year. A Chimpanzee permit goes for $250 per person and be purchase at the UWA offices. However, they can only be purchased by a registered tour company.
