This 2 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: will give you an ultimate game drive experience in Akagera National Park in Rwanda. It was basically named after the Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary and feeds into a labyrinth of lakes of which the largest is Lake Ihema. It also has exceptional levels of biodiversity and forms the largest protected wetland in central Africa. Generally, the park is ideal for game viewing, animal species such as buffalos, elephants, antelopes, zebras, giraffe, baboons, monkeys, etc. On top of that, it hosts over 490 bird species.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After an early morning breakfast, the driver will pick you up and start on your journey to Akagera National Park. The journey to the park takes about 2.5 hours however, it depends on the stopovers along the way. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge, have lunch and after take a boat trip on Lake Ihema in search for Hippos, crocodiles and different bird species.

Day 2: Game drive in Akagera National Park
After an early breakfast, you will set off for your game drive in Akagera national park. You will have parked lunch for the game drive which will last about 6 hours depending on your interests. While here, watch out for mammals like elephants, giraffes, buffalos, lions, rhinos and several antelope species. The park is also a birders haven with over 500 bird species. You will later proceed to Kigali either to catch up your flight or check in your lodge for an overnight stay.

Nature walks
Nature walks generally gives you an opportunity to see things up close. These include; exotic plants, colorful butterfly species, the water birds and the smaller animals that you couldn’t see quite well on the game drive. It also gives you an opportunity to appreciate nature at a much slower and easier pace.
Birding
Approximately 500 bird species have been recorded in the park whereby its an important ornithological site with rarities. These include; shoebill and papyrus gonolek, which are both restricted to the papyrus swamps, the localized red-faced barbet and the swamp flycatcher.
Fishing
For those who might want to go fishing whether as a sport or for food, you can do some fishing in Lake Shakani. This is bascially one of the many lakes in the area and here the most commonest fish in the lake is the tilapia and cat fish. There are also some fishing tournaments that place in the park every now whereby, you could participate if there is one going on at the time of your visit.
