7 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari
This 7 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari: will take you to different parks where you will enjoy and experience different activities. Kibale Forest National Park is particularly rich in primates with at least 60 mammal species and with 13 species recorded. The park is also the most important stronghold of Ugandan red colobus however, it supports eight other diurnal primate specie. These include; vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest’s, blue monkeys; Uganda mangabey; black-and-white colobus; olive baboon and chimpanzee. Queen Elizabeth National Park is generally a home to various mammals like the tree climbing lions, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes etc. However, the park also holds different activities like bird watching, boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel as well as Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is also among the oldest forests. Besides the Gorillas, you will also have an opportunity to see other primates such as the baboons, red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus not to mention but a few. The park also offers some of the best montane-forest, bird watching in Africa with an estimation of over 350 bird species, 14 not recorded anywhere else in Uganda.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Entebbe/Kampala-Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, you will be picked up by one of our representatives from Great Nest Image Safari, thereafter you will drive heading west past Mityana and continue to Fort Portal where you will stop for lunch. Kibale national park generally has the highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge and later you either decide to rest or have an evening walk. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking-Nature walk
After an early morning breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the do’s and don’ts while doing chimpanzee trekking. Later, you will start your search for the chimpanzees within the park and this can take you half a day depending on the movements of these primates. Interestingly, they are located by simply listening to their pant hooting calls, and then head to the place from which they replied from. While here, you can observe them as they feed, play as well as socializing with each other. As a matter of fact, these primates are the closest relatives to the human being since they share 98% of their DNA.
However, there are other primates in the area like the golden monkeys, baboons, L’Hoest monkey, white and black Colobus, red Colobus, blue monkeys etc. Other animals to watch include; forest elephants unique from the common type and giant forest hogs. On the other hand, the park is one of the great rain forests in Africa and has the largest community of chimpanzees consisting of 1-100 individuals. Later after lunch, you will take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. While here, watch out for the Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, herons and kingfishers among others. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park-Evening game drive
After breakfast, you will start on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National park. The drive takes approx. 3 hours, passing through fort portal and arrive at the park in the lunch hours. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge and enjoy your lunch as you prepare to enjoy an evening game drive. Here, you will view many animal species including the lions, elephants, buffalos, kobs, antelopes as well as different bird different species. After you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive-Boat cruise
After an early morning breakfast you will go for the morning game drive in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the kob mating grounds. Therefore, this is a perfect place to spot a lot of kobs and other antelopes like the sitatungas. Other wildlife can also be spotted out such as lions, elephants hyenas among others. Later in the afternoon, you will go for launch cruise on the Kazinga channel famous for its highest hippopotamus, you will also spot crocodiles, buffalos, elephants and other animals as they come down to drink and bathe. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will have your morning breakfast, check out of the lodge. You will drive through the Ishasha sector in the southern part of park where you might have a chance to spot the tree climbing lions. After lunch enroute and proceed to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking-Batwa Cultural Experience
After an early morning breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the park rangers about do’s and don’ts while trekking in the park. Here you will also be divided in a group of 8 individuals and after you will start off your gorilla trekking guided by the park rangers. This is a memorable and an amazing experience watching the Mountain gorillas feed, play around as well as do their day to day activities.
However, the time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Upon locating a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence as you take photographs and observe their unique characters. Later, for lunch and in the evening head for the Batwa community which will expose you to their culture basing on how they live, dance, as well as listening to stories concerning their culture which will leave you amazed. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 7: Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala
After your breakfast, you will start your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe. You will have a stopover for lunch at and later proceed with your journey reaching late afternoon.

Permits
In Uganda chimpanzee and Gorilla tracking is done throughout the year. Chimpanzee permit goes for $50 per person while a Gorilla trekking permit goes for $700 per person and all these are payable through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or through our Company.
Requirements for the safari
- Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking permits.
- Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
