This 2 Days Holiday Murchison Falls Park : will take you to one of the most visited parks in Uganda with different activities and attractions. This park is the most electrifying sight of its type in East Africa, as the Nile squeezes through an 8m wide gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the “Devils cauldron”. This safari basically gives you enough time to see all that the great park has to offer. These include; game drives in the savannah grassland that will expose you to lots of animals such as 4 of the big 5 (lions, leopards, elephants and buffalos) and other animals. The park also offers a boat cruise on the Nile where you will be able to come across aquatic animals like the hippos and busk ranges of crocodiles.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park-Top of the falls–Evening game drive
After breakfast, you will be picked by the driver and later start on your journey to Uganda’s largest park with lots of natural wonders. As you enter the park, you will start with your first activity which is a walk to the top of the falls. Here, the Victoria Nile water makes its way through a narrow gorge making a thunderous sound pouring downstream in the Albert Nile. Furthermore, this place is good for memorable pictures and taking in the sounds and sights. Therefore, be ready to take as many photos here and videos for memories to take back home. Later check in your lodge as you prepare for an evening game drive.
Afterwards, you will go for an evening game drive across the savannah, following different tracks in the park. In fact what you will see, sense and feel around cannot be replicated anywhere else in the World. During this game drive, you will be able to spot different animals. Some of these include; lions, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, spotted hyenas, giraffes, jackals etc and on a lucky day you can even sport leopards. While here, also expect to take photos and videos as you enjoy the wildlife and its nature.

Day 2: Morning boat cruise-Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala
After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for your boat adventure and while on the cruise, you will be able to view different water animals. These include; the crocodiles, hippos and some animals at the banks of the river as they quench their thirst; like elephants and water bucks. Also expect to see different bird species like the red-throated bee-eaters, kingfishers, martial eagles and many more. Feel free to take photos and videos as you enjoy the wildlife on water. The boat ride will take you to the bottom of the Murchison falls and when you reach here you will be able to see clearly the mighty waterfalls. Later you will start on your journey back to Kampala.

Best time to visit Murchison Falls National Park
Watching wildlife in Murchison Falls National Park is generally good and at its best during the Dry season, from December to February. However, January and February can be very hot and scenery is more beautiful although during the Wet season from June to November and park can also be visited.

Trackers set off in up to six guided groups, each comprising up to three people; at 08:00 and then again at 14:00. Tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi is not easier and the success rate currently stands at around 80% with most groups locating chimps within an hour of setting off. Note that; the full activity should take around 3 hours thou it may take longer if the chimps are more difficult to locate. Besides, permits costs $80 per person while a full day habituation experience allowing up to two people taking a minimum of 6 hours costs $155 per person and the activity starts at 07:00.
- Bird walks
Kaniyo Pabidi generally protects a similar range of species to Budongo Forest and the best place to look for birds is around the lodge. Additionally, the gallery forest along the main road also offers good views into the canopy and can be explored freely and without a guide. Among the species observed include; shrike-flycatcher, wattle-eye, little greenbul, chestnut winged starling, pygmy kingfishers, etc.
- Fishing excursions
There is good fishing along the Murchison Nile, with large Nile perch and tiger fish offering the main challenge. However, sport fishing permits must be bought from Uganda Wildlife Authority at a cost of $50 per person per day.
- Base of the falls
The 3 hour return launch trip to the base of Murchison Falls has been Murchison falls national park’s most popular attraction. It has been since 1959 when the Queen of England made an inaugural voyage in a spanking new boat. Besides, game viewing along the way is excellent and expect to see hippos in their hundreds along with some of crocodiles. In addition, bird life is also stunning such as the goliath heron, African jacana, saddle-billed stork. African skimmer, yellow-backed weaver, pied and malachite kingfishers, the rare shoebill, etc. Here, also double-decker boats and used, they take 2-3 hours while on water and the boat costs $30 per person per day.
- Primate Watching
We organize very rewarding primate watching trips led by very knowledgeable forest guides. They will guide you as you explore the forest in search for the different primates. These include; baboons, red tailed monkeys as well as the black & white colobus. In case you are really fortunate you may be able to see some chimpanzees. You will see some birds and even learn about a couple of medicinal plants within the forest.
