DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to the Hotel

On your arrival, you will be picked by one of our representatives from Ssemambo Alex Tours & Travel and thereafter, you will be transferred to your booked hotel in Entebbe/Kampala for your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you can proceed to visit some of the places around Entebbe/Kampala like the busy big markets, African craft shops, gardens (for the bird lovers) or one of the biggest shopping malls around town. Dinner and overnight stay at your booked lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja City

After an early morning breakfast, you will start on your journey to Jinja City, Uganda’s former industrial town during the colonial times in Eastern Uganda. You will have a stopover at Mabira Forest for a short forest walk in search of forest birds and colobus monkeys. Later you will proceed to Jinja Nile the longest River in Africa and here you will have a chance to the source of the Nile and after lunch you will enjoy a tour of this historical industrial hub with a lot of sightings. Dinner and overnight stay at your booked lodge.

Day 3: Sipi Falls Tour

You will have breakfast in the morning and set off to Sipi Falls for a nature walk to the spectacular Sipi Falls which has its origin from Mount Elgon and here also expect to see plantations of coffee and caves along the way. You will return in the evening for dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your breakfast in the morning, you will start up your journey to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking driving through Kampala. This is a guided nature walk to experience the life of the Rhinos in the wild. You will have lunch and later enjoy an evening walk. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you will transfer to the magnificent Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park with lots of natural wonders. Since the drive is short from Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you will enter the park early and visit the famous Top of the falls where you will listen and enjoy the sound of the mighty flowing water. It is here that water thunders through different rapids from a 7 metre gap to fall over 40 meters Gorge below and the experience is amazing. Later you will be driven to your lodge to freshen up, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Game drive – Launch cruise along the Albert Nile

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for a game drive on the Northern bank of River Nile. This activity takes 4 – 6 hours and here you will have a chance to view different wildlife such as buffalos, elephants, giraffes, waterbucks and much more.

You will return to the lodge for lunch and after you will go for the launch cruise on the Albert Nile which will give you an exciting view at the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls. Along the cruise, you will encounter hippos, crocodiles, birds on the river banks and the rare shoebill stork. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will prepare for a long drive to Kibale Forest National Park. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town and enjoy a tour of the surroundings including the Tooro king’s palace. You will proceed to Kibale Forest National Park arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking – Bigodi Swamp Walk

You will have an early morning breakfast and go for a briefing by the park rangers after which you will set off the chimpanzee tracking within Kibale forest. Here you will be equipped with lofts of information about the forest and different flora and fauna and once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour in their presence.

After lunch, you will go a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for most of the water bird species. The forest has over 340 species of birds and therefore a good place for the bird lovers. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Semuliki National Park

Have breakfast in the morning then transfer to Semiliki National Park which is a relatively short drive and you will reach the park headquarters early where you will register and later check in into your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon will enjoy the magnificent view of the park and enjoy dinner as the sun sets.

Late in the evening, you will go on a night game drive in search for wildlife such as white tailed mangoose, slender mangoose and much more, this is one of the few parks in Uganda where one can go on a night game drive and the night game drive ends at 11:00pm. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Sempaya Hot springs – Fort Portal Town

After breakfast, you will have a walk in the forest for primate and bird species watching then later you will proceed to the hot springs of Sempaya that has a temperature of more than 100 degrees Celsius with hot surrounding pools and here will also have a chance to taste boiled eggs and bananas; boiled from the springs. Later you will transfer to Fort portal town for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will go in direct and check in you lodge, have lunch, relax and later in the afternoon you will go for a game drive in Northern crater area where you be able to see a lot of dark holes called the black craters with no water. You will also be able to see some animals like warthogs, baboons, lions, elephants and much more. Overnight and dinner will be at your lodge.

Day 12: Game Drive – Launch cruise

After an early morning breakfast you will go for the morning game drive in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the kob mating grounds; therefore perfect to spot a lot of kobs, antelopes like the sitatunga and the hyenas. Other wildlife can also be spotted out such as lions and the elephants among others. The game drive will take 3-4 hours and later you will go to your lodge, freshen up and have lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go for launch cruise on the Kazinga channel famous for its highest hippopotamus, you will also see crocodiles, buffalos, elephants and other animals as they come down to drink and bathe, here watch out also for different bird species. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Game Drive – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for a game drive in Ishasha area for a view of the rare tree climbing lions and these can be seen lounging in the fig trees during mid-morning as they rest from the previous night’s strenuous hunt. But this is not a guarantee that you will see them because sometimes it depends on the luck and time of reaching the area. After, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in preparation for your next day of Gorilla trekking. Dinner and overnight stay and your lodge.

Day 14: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have your early morning breakfast then drive to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts during the trekking and later you will go for the gorilla trekking. This will take 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After trekking you will go back to your lodge to fresh up and lunch. Later in the evening you can decide to go for a walk and enjoy the Batwa Cultural Experience which will expose you to their culture basing on how they live, dance, and also hearing stories concerning their culture which will leave you amazed. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will have your breakfast and later depart for Lake Bunyonyi well known as the second deepest Lake in Africa. The Lake has 29 Islands and is a good stop over for relaxation from trekking Mountain Gorillas. After checking in your lodge, you will go for a Boat ride/Canoeing and here you will be able to visit most of the Islands on the Lake.

The Islands on the Lake were named according to the different bird species found on the Island and some were named for different reasons for example the Punishment Island which is the smallest and was used by the Bakiga people to drop their girls who got pregnant before marriage and here you will also learn a lot about the people that inhabit the Islands. Later you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will start on your journey to Lake Mburo National Park driving across the rolling hills and slopes of Kabale well known as the “Switzerland of Africa” but before we shall have a stopover in Mbarara Town for lunch. Later you will proceed to Lake Mburo National Park where you will have a game drive en-route which will enable you see animals like impalas, antelopes, zebras, elands and much more. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 17: Game Drive – Boat ride on Lake Mburo

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for an early morning game drive in search for animals that you missed out in the previous evening’s game drive and later you will return to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo and here will you will have a chance to see Hippos and Crocodiles. Later you will return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 18: Guided Game Walk – Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, you will have a guided walk escorted by a park ranger from Uganda Wildlife Authority and this is simply for security purposes and to also provide you with more information about the Park and the trail. Later you will return to the lodge, check out and start on your journey to Entebbe/Kampala. You will have a stopover en-route at the equator for photography, experiment and refreshments and later proceed to Entebbe/Kampala arriving late in the evening. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 19: The Ssese Islands of Lake Victoria

After your breakfast, you will be transferred to Nakiwogo Landing site where you will board the ferry to Lutoboka. Here the journey takes about 3 hours and on arrival you will check in your lodge/hotel to freshen up, lunch and relaxation and later in the evening you will enjoy the sweet melodies from different bird species with a cool rewarding breeze from the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 20: Ssese Island Relaxation

You will have breakfast and later go for bird watching and forest walk in the nearby forest on the Island. You will spend the afternoon relaxing on the white sand beaches around the Island. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 21: Transfer to Entebbe – Departure

  • Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Golden Monkey trekking permits should be paid for in advance through our Company.
  • Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
  • Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
  • Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
  • Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day the trekking.

SAFARI TRANSPORT

Standard 4X4 Safari Vans/Land cruisers

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari van and Land cruisers with open roof tops customized for game viewing and photography. Each Safari van/Land cruiser comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. Each client is entitled to a window seat and can take up to 8-10 people. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.
