This 8 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari: takes you to forest parks for primate tracking and savannah parks for wildlife viewing. Lake Mburo National Park harbors several mammal species not easily observed elsewhere in the country. The park also supports Uganda’s only remaining population of impalas. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is among the oldest forests. Besides the Gorillas, you will also have an opportunity to see other primates such as the baboons, red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus etc. The park also offers some of the best montane-forest bird watching in Africa with an estimation of over 350 bird species. Queen Elizabeth National Park is generally a home to various mammals like the tree climbing lions, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes etc. The park also holds different activities like bird watching, boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge. Kibale Forest National Park is particularly rich in primates with at least 13 species recorded. The park is the most important stronghold of Ugandan red colobus however supports eight other diurnal primate species. These include; vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest’s and blue monkeys; Uganda mangabey; black-and-white colobus; olive baboon and chimpanzee.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Entebbe/Kampala-Equator Experience-Lake Mburo National Park-Evening game drive
After breakfast, you will be picked up by one of our representatives from Great Nest Image Safari who will drive you west of the country to Lake Mburo National Park. However, you will have your first stopover at the Equator for refreshments, Equator experience as well as take photographs. Upon arrival in the park, you will check in, have lunch. Later set out for a game drive through the park where you will take a glance on different animals like the Zebras that are found almost everywhere in the park. Later in the evening head to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast having your early morning breakfast, you will start off your journey to the Southwestern part to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. You will pass via Mbarara town which is endowed with beautiful landscapes as well as various rolling hills with terraces. Upon reaching the park, you will check in your lodge and relax the whole evening as you get ready for the next day of gorilla trekking. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking-Batwa Cultural Experience
After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters. While here, you will be briefed about do’s and don’ts while trekking in the park. Afterwards, you will start off your gorilla trekking guided by the park rangers. This is an amazing experience watching the Mountain gorillas feed, play around etc. However, the time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates.
Upon locating a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence as you take photographs as well as observe their unique characters. Later, you will return to your lodge and in the evening visit the Batwa community. These will expose you to their culture basing on how they live, dance, and also listening to stories concerning their culture which will leave you amazed. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 4: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park-Evening game drive
You will have breakfast in the morning and after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the Ishasha sector which is home to tree climbing lions. However, the park has a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, lions, etc. Upon arrival, you will check in the lodge, have lunch and later go for an evening game drive. While here, look out for lions, buffalos, elephants, not to mention but a few.

Day 5: Morning game drive-Boat cruise
After an early morning breakfast you will go for the morning game drive in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the kob mating grounds. Therefore, this is a perfect place to spot a lot of kobs and other antelopes like the sitatunga. Other wildlife to spot out include; lions, elephants, buffalos, hyenas etc. Later in the afternoon, you will go for launch cruise on the Kazinga channel famous for its highest hippopotamus. You will also see crocodiles, buffalos, elephants and other animals as they come down to quench their thirst. Also watch out for different bird species since the park has got over 600 of them. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Morning game drive-Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge, have a morning game drive and later start off your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. You will arrive in the evening, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking safari-Bigodi wetland visit
After an early morning breakfast, you will head the park headquarters and while here, you will be briefed about the do’s and don’ts while doing chimpanzee trekking. After, you will start your search for the chimpanzees within the park. However, this can take you half a day depending on the movements of these primates. As a matter of fact, these primates are the closest relatives to the human being since they share 98% of their DNA.
Other primates here include; the golden monkeys, baboons, L’Hoest monkey, white and black Colobus, red Colobus etc. Other animals to watch out include; forest elephants unique from the common type as well as giant forest hogs. More so, this park is one of the great rain forests in Africa and has the largest community of chimpanzees. Later after lunch, you will take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. While here, watch out for the Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, herons and kingfishers among others. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 8: Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala
After your breakfast, check out the lodge and start on journey, coming across beautiful scenic views. You will stopover for lunch in Mubende and thereafter continue to Entebbe/Kampala where you will reach late evening.

Permits
In Uganda chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking is done throughout the year. Chimpanzee permit goes for $200 per person while a Gorilla trekking permit goes for $700 per person and all these are payable through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or through our Company.
Requirements for the safari
- Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking permits should be paid in advance through our Company or Uganda Wildlife Authority.
- Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
- Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
- Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
- Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day of the trekking.
