8 Days Uganda Birding and Wildlife Safari
This 8 Days Uganda Birding and Wildlife Safari : takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park generally contains over 600 bird species making it a must visit for birders. Additionally, migratory birds are seen from November to April however birds can be seen throughout the year. The safari will also take you to Lake Bunyonyi which takes its name from the abundant birdlife that call it home. In fact, the 6 Islands around it have got many bird species that can be enjoyed by many bird watchers that visit the Lake. You will conclude with Lake Mburo National Park best for water and acacia associated birds.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival-Transfer to the Hotel
You will be warmly received by a representative of Great Nest Image Safaris and later transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe. Depending on the time of arrival, you may decide to spend the afternoon at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, do a city tour or just relax at your lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park-Evening game drive
After your delicious breakfast, you will set off from Kampala and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will make a stopover at the equator where you to take pictures and shop for a souvenir. Later you will have lunch in Mbarara and later continue with your journey. Upon arrival, check in your lodge and afterwards, head for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning game drive-birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will set off for your early morning game drive. While here, you will enjoy an excellent game viewing that offers much sighting to different animals as well as bird species. You will move through open grassy plains which support large flocks of White and Abdims stork as well as the spectacular Saddle billed stork. More so, raptors are well represented, including the Brown snake eagle, Bateleur, African harrier-hawk, Marsha eagle etc. You will get back for lunch and then take a boat cruise trip. Here, you will view hundreds of hippos, elephants and many migratory bird species. These include; Grey headed gulls, White winged black terns, African skimmers, Morning dove, Water dikkops. Great white and Pink-backed pelicans not to mention but a few. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After having breakfast, do birding as you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi. Generally, the area is often referred to as the “Little Switzerland of Uganda”. Furthermore, this is the second deepest lake in Uganda and second deepest in Africa. During a bright day you might even be lucky seeing the beautifully shaped volcano Mount Muhavura. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Birding at Lake Bunyonyi
After your early breakfast, you will go for canoeing and explore the surroundings from the water surface. While here, you will enjoy the rich birdlife as you drift quietly to the several small islands. Later, return for lunch and embark on a bird Walk in Mukoni Village. Approximately 40-50 different species may be seen on this walk. These may include; the Swamp flycatcher, Black kite, Scarlet-chested, sunbird Red-chested Sunbirds, etc. Afterwards, return for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast you will start on your journey to Lake Mburo National Park. It is basically a birders paradise for bird enthusiasts and also an ideal place for guided nature walks. Arriving in the afternoon at the park. Check in for lunch. Dinner and overnight at your Lodge.

Day 7: Birding-Boat cruise-Game drive
You have breakfast, then later go for a morning nature walk guided by a park ranger. Actually this is the only park where you can experience a safari on foot. While here, you will encounter many bird species of wetland as well as savannah birds. Afterwards, you will go for a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the rich birdlife and animals like hippos. Later in the afternoon, will head for a game drive along the Zebra Track also looking out for different bird species. These may include; Coqui francolin, Black bellied bustard, Temminck’s courser, African Wattle plover. Rufous napped and Flappet lark, Rufous chested swallow, etc. Also look out for the elusive leopard and other nocturnal species. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala
After having your morning breakfast, you check out of the lodge. However, as you are exiting the park, you might also have a chance of spotting different bird species. You will have lunch en route and a stop at the equator for photography and some refreshments. Later, continue with your journey to Entebbe/Kampala where you will be dropped at the airport for your flight home or at your hotel.
